2011 Audi A8 L

Pricing details for Audi’s new flagship vehicle for the Chinese market, the A8 L, have just been announced. The vehicle’s market release is set later this year and will be priced from EUR79,900 ($100,000) for the 3.0 TDI version. Measuring 130 millimeters (0.43 ft) longer than the standard-wheelbase version, the A8 L is the top version of Audi’s flagship A8. There is much to be in awe about this vehicle. First, it offers an extensive list of engines — two V6 engines (TDI 250 hp, TFSI 290 hp), two 4.2l V8s (TDI 350 hp, FSI 372 hp) and a W12 unit. A 6.3l FSI engine, which is at the top of this range, has an output of 500 hp and a peak torque of 625 Nm at 3,250 rpm.

The W12 powerplant is coupled with an eight-speed tiptronic transmission. With these specifications, the vehicle is able to accelerate from zero to 100 km/h (62.14 mph) in 4.9 seconds, and reach an electronically limited top speed of 250 km/h (155.34 mph). But with this much power, it’s to be expected that it isn’t very efficient. In fact, it consumes 12.0l of fuel every 100 km, or 19.6 US mpg – placing it below the previous version, which consumes 13.6 l/100 km.

The A8 L’s interior is covered in valonea leather, which is tanned with plant extracts. Buyers may also opt for a panoramic glass roof with two glass panels or the MMI navigation plus high-capacity hard disk. Audi announced that the entry level 3.0 TDI is priced from EUR79,900. Furthermore, the variant and the prices are the following: 3.0 TFSI (EUR80,400); the 4.2 FSI (EUR94,300); the 4.2 TDI (EUR95,800); and the W12 (EUR137,000).
