Bentley revealed its latest model, the Mulsanne, at the Geneva Motor Show. The British luxury carmaker regards this model to be the pinnacle of British motoring. The Mulsanne is equipped with a reengineered twin-turbocharged V8 engine, which has an output of 512PS (505bhp) at 4,200 rpm, with torque levels reaching 1,020 Nm. With this engine, the Mulsanne is able to get to 60 mph in 5.1 seconds and to 100 km/h in 5.3 seconds. The engine is mated with an 8-speed automatic transmission with electronic shift interface, sport mode and steering-wheel mounted paddleshift. This pushes the car to speeds of up to 184 mph (296 km/h). Fuel consumption figure is at 16.7 mpg (16.9 l/100km) in the EU combined cycle.
The interior is very luxurious; the surfaces in the car are covered in hand-selected leather in 24 standard colors in single tone or duo-tone combinations in four different styles. The accents can be seen in the seating, fascia, console, door panels, door pillars, parcel shelf, headlining, sunvisors and the glovebox. We also see veneer, polished stainless steel and wood in the cabin. The Mulsanne is offered in 114 paint colors, 21 carpet colors, nine wood veneers and 24 interior leather hides.
A decades-old tanning process will be used to maintain the scent. With a Bentley, buyers are assured of an excellent infotainment system and luxurious features. The Mulsanne has cruise control, rain sensing windscreen wipers, sentinel headlamp functions, 8-inch high-resolution color screen, central rotary controller for access to menus, 60GB hard disc drive with integrated satellite navigation system. In a release, Bentley CEO Franz-Josef Paefgen said that the new Mulsanne is a modern flagship that captures the essence of the Bentley marque. He described the car to be “elegant yet distinctly sporting in character, delivering effortless performance while within its sumptuous cabin, advanced technology sits discreetly with handcrafted luxury. The Mulsanne will arrive next summer.
