The world premiere of the BMW X3 has just successfully taken place at the 2010 Paris Motor Show. This model’s design is quite similar to that of the first generation X3. The difference is that it is larger and possesses the same design language as the new 5 and 7 series. In comparison to its predecessor, the vehicle has a larger interior space and boot. The luggage space capacity is now bigger by 70 liters to 550 liters.
In Europe, the car is available in two versions – a diesel unit (the xDrive2.0d with an output of 184 hp and 380 Nm) and a petrol unit (the xDrive35i with 306 hp and 400 Nm). In the US, the car is offered in two petrol versions -- the xDrive35i and the xDrive28i (240 hp and 311 Nm of torque).
Ian Robertson, a member of the Board of Management of BMW, said that in 2004, the first BMW X3 created a new segment and was a topseller. He believes that it’s to be expected that the second generation will be successful as well. He also said that this vehicle “blends in perfectly between the BMW X1 and the BMW X5 Series.” The 2011 BMW X3 is expected to arrive at showrooms throughout Europe next month.
