Chevrolet’s first entry into the European MPV segment, the 2011 Orlando, had its world premiere at the 2010 Paris Motor Show. The Chevrolet Orlando is inspired by the show car concept displayed at Paris in 2008. Based on the Cruze saloon, the new MPV features a low swept roof line, a Corvette inspired dual cockpit and ambient blue backlighting to the centre console. The Orlando offers the following equipment as standard: electronic stability control, six air-bags, air conditioning and electrically heated and adjustable door mirrors. The Orlando will be offered with three of Chevrolet's latest fuel efficient engines.
There will be one petrol engine, a 1.8 liter that delivers 141 hp and two diesel units. Chevrolet’s latest version of its 2.0 liter engine has outputs of 131 hp or 163 hp. In October, full production of the Orlando will begin. The car will start selling throughout Europe in early 2011. In a statement, Wayne Brannon, president and managing director for Chevrolet Europe, said that the new Orlando MPV starts off a seven-product launch program that will span the next 15 months.
He added that the company believes that the Orlando will bring “great value for money to the MPV class” as well as offer “something fresh – function with attitude.” He said that Chevrolet is glad for the chance to continue building its volume across Europe as well as pull in more customers to the Chevrolet brand.
