2011 Ford Edge

For $27,995, Ford Motor Co.'s 2011 Edge crossover could be yours. This price, which includes shipping fees, is about $200 less than the 2010 model. Many consider it an awesome deal since Ford had added more power to the 2011 base engine. During a press event, Ford said that the new 3.5-liter V-6 engine will achieve fuel economy of 19 mpg city and 27 mpg highway, on the front-wheel-drive version. The outgoing model had fuel economy of 18 city/25 highway. The weight of the fwd 2011 Edge was reduced by 15 pounds while the all-wheel-drive version was made lighter by 40 pounds.

The engineers restyled the front grille of the 2011 Edge while Ford put new rocker panels on the side for improved aerodynamics. The 2011 Edge features MyFord Touch interior technology and there are three engine options: a 3.5-liter V-6; a 3.7-liter V-6; and the 2.0-liter EcoBoost turbocharged direct-inject engine that is set to arrive next year. A television and digital ad campaign is planned for the launching of the model in late August and early September. Amy Marentic, Ford's group marketing manager for cars and crossovers, revealed that the theme is "taking a great idea and making it better." The other marketing programs for the crossover are being prepared by Ford and Sony. The two companies also collaborated to produce the interior instrument panel while it was Sony that designed the center console.
