2011 Ford Explorer coming with a new message: ‘Utility with mpg’!

As you may know already, the 2011 Ford Explorer made its debut on Monday and made quite a buzz on the market. What you didn´t know is that Ford will initially use only social media in order to advertise the new vehicle and like this method, the message will be unique for a vehicle that hasn't been known as an industry leader in fuel efficiency: Utility with mpg! Yes, this means this vehivle will deliver the same off-road experience and towing capability in a family vehicle but also save at the pump.

"We have to let the people know what the Explorer has become." said Jim Farley, Ford's group vice president of global marketing. "Our job is to be a myth-buster," added Jim Farley. Apparently he said this because people think that the Explorer can´t also be a family vehicle that gets good fuel economy. Farley's new task is to change this vision and in order to do this Ford will rely on social media so it can talk directly with its customers. "Having a conversation online with community leaders and people who really care about this vehicle is really valuable," Farley says. "It helps me myth-bust." For those who don´t know, the new Explorer has its own Facebook page and over 30,000 friends.
