2011 Ford Fiesta US-Spec

Ford Motor Co. apparently thought that with the attention that the 2011 Fiesta has been getting it won´t really need to shout out its pricing. There were no press releases and there were no major announcements. Instead, we got the pricing information from browsing Ford's official page for the new Fiesta. From the site, we learned that the car is priced from $13,320 (plus a $675 destination charge). We were delighted with the full Build and Price section available, since it allowed us to see every individual option and its price. Notably, the low base price is for the base S model, which comes exclusively in sedan form.

The least expensive hatchback model is $15,120 (about $800 more than a comparably-equipped sedan). A hatchback with Ford's new six-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission costs $16,190, and the uprated SES hatchback starts at $17,120 ($18,190 with the auto). Furthermore, Ford has a surprise in store for those who want to reserve one early. Many might be discouraged to know that there won´t be a real-life GPS navigation system. The latest SYNC system provides turn-by-turn voice navigation commands but it's not comparable to the screen-based navigation systems used by a few sub-$20k competitors like the Honda Fit or the Suzuki SX4. For $715, buyers can have leather interior that's available in Black, Cashmere or Plum tones.

Take note that the leather interior is only available on the SEL (sedan) and SES (hatchback) trim levels but then again, many of its rivals don´t offer leather interiors at all. For more customization, the car comes with five different graphics packages. We tried to compare the Fiesta with the Honda Fit but we figured out soon enough that it's difficult to option these two cars at similar levels. For example, the Honda is available with a true screen-based navigation system but not with a leather interior. The Fit is only available as a hatchback while the Fiesta can also be had in sedan form. But it's evident that the cars are just about the same when all the available options are included.
