2011 Frankfurt Motor Show: Fisker Surf Concept is a hot shooting break

A new shooting brake with four doors -- the Fisker Surf – is on display at the 2011 Frankfurt Auto Show. This niche, which includes the Ferrari FF, has certainly been gaining popularity. The Fisker Surf is not a concept. It’s a production that considers the Karma as its basis. It could actually be seen as a wagon version of the Karma. In fact, the Surf will be marketed together with the Karma beginning in July 2012.

It has a luggage space of between 12.7 and 29 cubic feet. The designer focused on its practicality as well as its styling. Its bigger roof means that a larger solar panel could be installed on it. However, the Surf is only 77 pounds heavier. In terms of technology, the car hasn’t changed much. Its interior is the same, except for the bigger space at the back. Fisker expects to sell 3,500 units each year of this surf board carrier.

Henrik Fisker, CEO/Executive Design Director, Fisker Automotive, said that the Surf is the first eco-friendly lifestyle vehicle that has plenty of space, offers a high performance and has a luxurious design too. He added that the vehicle is aimed at consumers who like “beautiful cars” and have “an active, environmentally conscious lifestyle.”
