2011 Frankfurt Motor Show: SsangYong XIV-1 Concept previews company’s next B-segment CUV

SsangYong unveiled today the XIV-1 at the 2011 Frankfurt Motor Show. According to the manufacturer, the XIV comes from the phrase ‘eXciting user Interface Vehicle’, highlighting the car’s focus on interaction with the driver and passengers. The good news is that the XIV-1 is more than a concept and previews SsangYong’s premium B-segment CUV project.

We must admit that we are not big fans of the Korean manufacturer, but the SsangYong XIV-1 is quite impressive and if it will hit the market in this form we will be more than happy to take it for a spin.

The key to the XIV-1’s name lies inside the cabin. The user interface embraces the concept of an extended living space rather than providing just a means of transport. Control of many of XIV-1 functions is via the interaction of Smart mobile devices and the vehicle itself. Using the kind of devices that the driver and passengers are likely to be carrying at all times, they can control everything from the audio system, the display of information on the dashboard and online communications.” said the press release
