The BMW Alpina B5 Biturbo Touring tuning package will debut at the Geneva Motor Show. This station wagon version of the B5 Biturbo will offer the same powertrain as the sedan -- a 507 hp and 700 Nm twin-turbocharged 4.4 liter V8 unit that is mated to an eight-speed ZF automatic gearbox. The sedan can sprint from 0 to 62 mpg in 4.7 seconds and it offers a top speed of 191 mph (307.5 km/h). Meanwhile, the “family man” version can go from 0 to 62 mph in 4.8 seconds and reach a top speed of 187 mph (301 km/h).
In a statement, the company said that the BMW ALPINA B5 Bi-Turbo represents a new dimension in the “finely honed balance between athleticism, comfort and every-day luxury that has defined ALPINA automobiles for decades.”
In the past 35 years, five different generations of 5 Series-based ALPINA automobiles were developed. It also said that the sixth generation “draws from the finest ingredients of past generations” to appeal to the “most demanding drivers of high performance luxury cars.”
