Mazda revealed today the first sketches with the new Minagi Concept SUV concept, which will be officially unveiled in March, at the 2011 Geneva Motor Show. The four-door concept will take on cars such as the Hyundai iX35/Tuscon and looking at the design we must admit the there is a small resemblance with the Korean model. As expected, the new Mazda Minagi Concept previews the upcoming entry-level Mazda SUV which was recently caught by spy photographers in Europe.
Other sources confirmed the fact that the car will use a modified Mazda3 platform. Under the hood, it is believed that the CX-5 will receive the new range of Sky-G and Sky-D powerplants.
According to some of our sources, the new car will be named CX-5 and is set to make its debut in September, at the 2011 Frankfurt Motor Show, but it is still unclear when it will go on sale. The new Mazda CX-5 will join the other crossovers and SUVs in Mazda’s United States lineup: CX-7, CX-9 and the Tribute. [via autoblog]
