A full set of images has come out of the Smart electric concept (now known as the Forspeed), which made its officially debut at the 2011 Geneva Motor Show. It had been recently reported that a real-life version of the smart Roadster, which was trademarked at the start of the year, will be displayed at the Geneva show. This concept, a roofless creation, is reminiscent of the Crossblade, which came out in a limited run several years ago. The Forspeed will not enter production. It will only serve as a design preview for the next generation fortwo and the revived forfour five-door model.
This vehicle is a concept and can’t be mistaken for anything else since smart has installed a set of outrageous lights, no exterior door handles, and a toneau that can cover the entire interior or just the passenger side in the event of rain. The German company said that the Forspeed is powered by a 41hp electric motor that can make the car go from zero to 60mph in only 5.5 seconds.
Its top speed is 75 mph (120 km/h). The concept’s acceleration time is actually faster by a second compared to the standard fortwo ED, on which it is based. It is claimed to have a range of 85 miles on a full charge, and its batteries can be charged up to 80% in just 45 minutes.
