Honda’s second generation 2011 Pilot Touring is the carmaker’s latest addition to its crossover SUV segment.

The revised model features the Honda Satellite-Linked Navigation System available on the Pilot EX-L model. Previously, this feature had only been available exclusively to the top-level Pilot Touring model. A 250 horsepower i-VTEC V6 engine powers each of the 2011 Pilot models, which are fitted with a standard towing hitch receiver and a maximum tow rating of 4,500 pounds on 4WD models and 3,500 pounds on 2WD models. The EPA estimated city/highway/combined fuel economy is rated at 17/23/19 mpg, respectively, on two-wheel-drive models and 16/22/18 mpg on four-wheel-drive models. Continued after the jump!

Vicki Poponi, assistant vice president of Product Planning for American Honda Motor, said that the Honda Pilot provides what most people expect from a family-oriented SUV. She stated that the Pilot emphasizes “safety, versatile cargo areas and comfortable space for adults and children.”

The Pilot also boasts a smart balance between all-weather capabilities, refined driving dynamics and overall fuel efficiency. The new Honda SUV features safety technology, which includes the Advanced Compatibility Engineering (ACE) body structure that aids in redirecting crash energy around the passenger cabin and can enhance frontal collision compatibility.

It also has the following additional safety equipment: the ESP; three-row side curtain airbags with a rollover sensor; driver’s and front passenger’s side airbags with passenger-side Occupant Position Detection System (OPDS); active front seat head restraints; and anti-lock brakes with electronic brake distribution and brake assist.
