2011 Hyundai Genesis Coupe: official details, photos and specs

2011 Hyundai Genesis Coupe

Hyundai wants to make its Genesis Coupe an even better sports car and so for 2011, it has added a new stripped-down 3.8 R-Spec model and updated the interior across the line. Blending the best features of a Genesis 2.0T R-Spec and the 3.8 R-Spec leads to the creation of a remarkable machine. If a stripped-down, no-frills base Genesis Coupe is combined with the top-of-the-line 3.8 Track model, the result is a Genesis Coupe powered by Hyundai's 306hp 3.8-liter V-6 engine with its 266 pound-feet of torque and 149 mph top speed. It also gets a set of Brembo brakes sized 13.4 inches in front and 13.0 inches in the rear with four-piston calipers all around, a limited-slip differential, and a track-tuned suspension with stiffer springs, heavy-duty struts, larger anti-roll bars, and a strut tower brace.

The 3.8 R-Spec is differentiated from the 3.8 Track because of its special front camber adjustment bolt. This is a practical feature to have if this Genesis Coupe will be used for racing. All 3.8 R-Spec cars will ship with the bolt included, but the owner would have to go to the dealer to have it installed. The R-Spec is different from the well-equipped track model because it lacks automatic headlights, cruise control, and a few interior accent pieces. The R-spec features a six-speed manual transmission and manual air-conditioning only. If there'san advanced electronic feature that you want on this car, you're going to have to get it yourself.

In addition, Hyundai made several revisions to the 2011 Genesis Coupe to update the interior. The 2011 models will receive new metal grain accents on the center stack, vents, door handles, and steering wheel, as well as new soft-touch materials on the door panels, glove box, and lower dashboard. A softer leather is wrapped around the steering wheel while the A-pillars are covered in cloth. The automatic transmission shifter's chrome surround will match the new chrome knobs on the center stack and the new chrome accent rings on the gauge cluster. Hyundai also adds new rear coat hooks, a grab handle on the trunk lid, and improved graphics for the multi-information display on the dash.
