2011 Infiniti M37 and M56 official EPA estimates

Nissan's 2011 Infiniti M sedan has Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) fuel economy estimates that indicate an increase of up to four miles per gallon as compared to the 2010 models. Infiniti, Nissan's luxury division, revealed that the 2011 Infiniti M range will go on sale starting March 18. The 2011 Infiniti M will be offered in two different configurations: V8, which will be designated Infiniti M56; and V6, which will be designated Infiniti M37.

In a release, Ben Poore, vice president, Infiniti Business Unit, said that the all-new 2011 Infiniti M's powertrains "offer both increased power and efficiency."Poore added that the V6 power is up 9% to 330 horsepower, while V8 power is up almost 30% to 420 horsepower and torque is increased 24% to 417 lb-ft. He also emphasized that this added 4 mpg Highway for the M56 and 3 mpg Highway for the all-wheel drive M56x.

For better performance, the 3.7-liter V6 and all-new 5.6-liter V8 engine both use CVTCS and VVEL technology. Furthermore, Direct Injection Gasoline technology is applied to the all-new 5.6-liter V8. All 2011 models also get an electronically controlled 7-speed automatic as the standard transmission. Poore stated that a 95hp gain and 81 ft-lb of torque while also improving fuel efficiency by up to 4 mpg for the new V8 is an "impressive feat of engineering."

The V6 and the V8 are also said to boast a smooth and responsive performance's a remarkable blend of power and efficiency.
