2011 Kia Sportage

The Top Safety Pick Award went to the 2011 Kia Sportage model as it has gotten the highest ratings in frontal, side, rear and rollover impact crash safety tests. The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) based its overall evaluation on different measurements that are particular to each crash angle as well as the overall impact on crash test dummies during collision. Michael Sprague, vice president, marketing & communications, Kia Motors America (KMA), said that the Kia brand is committed to offering the highest levels of passenger safety with its comprehensive list of cutting-edge technologies and features for increased crash protection.

He added that this model's sleek and modern appearance is included in Kia's transformation while keeping Kia's core philosophy of providing exciting, fun-to-drive vehicles with high levels of value, quality and safety.

The 2011 Sportage's standard safety equipment includes driver and passenger advanced front airbags, front seat-mounted side airbags, side curtain airbags and front active headrests, four-wheel Antilock Brake System (ABS), Electronic Stability Control (ESC), Electronic Brake Distribution (EBD), Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) and a Brake Assist System (BAS).
