2011 Kia Sportage receives new Dynamax AWD system

2011 Kia Sportage

The first Kia model to feature Magna's All-Wheel-Drive system is the 2011 Sportage SUV. Dubbed Dynamax, this fully active AWD coupling system aims to boost Sportage sales. Dynamax works by monitoring driving conditions continuously. This coupling system features a multi-plate clutch and is fully controllable via an electro-hydraulic actuation system.

Soon-Nam Lee, Director of Overseas Marketing, Kia Motors Corporation, said that the new Dynamax AWD system is a significant technical advance that benefits the customers. He added that the all-new Sportage compact SUV is a welcome addition to its product lineup and that the AWD system is expected to draw in numerous potential buyers.

In addition, the system features intelligent control electronics that provides the torque needed for any driving situation, resulting in optimized traction. These specifications also result in reduced fuel consumption and CO2 emissions. Energy use is minimized since the electronic components are also optimally sized.
