2011 Lotus Elise Facelift
We finally get to see the facelifted Elise from Lotus. With this car, expect a huge cut in CO2 emissions, improved fuel economy and revised styling that's more akin to the Evora. The Elise appears to have a wider stance due to its new front bumper, splitter and clamshell. Its front light cluster is repositioned and now features LED daytime running lights. In addition, the Elise's signature Lotus mouth has been widened. Very visible at the rear is a new bumper as well as an engine cover. Continued after the jump! These styling modifications aren't only for aesthetic purposes; the Elise gets a 4% reduction in drag that improves fuel economy and reduces emissions.
It is also the first time that a 1.6-litre S model appears in an Elise. As a result, emissions are reduced by 13% to 155g/km over the previous entry-level model. The 192bhp 1.8-liter R and the supercharged 217bhp SC now emit 196g/km and 199g/km of CO2 respectively. With the use of a Valvematic and Dual VVT-i tech, engine efficiency and performance have been optimized in the Toyota-sourced 1.6 powerplant.
Furthermore, a new six-speed, close-ratio gearbox has also been introduced and is fitted to all variants. New entries are seen on the options list. These include two types of lightweight forged alloy wheels, and cruise control. Prices will be announced next month before the car arrives in UK showrooms in April. It's believed that it won't start much above the £26,550 of the current S.
