Shelby wowed the audience at the 2011 New York Auto Show with its latest Mustang incarnation – the 2012 Shelby GTS. Shelby gave the car an overhaul and practically, its displacement is the only thing that was able to keep its shape. The unit got a 5.4-liter V8 and had been given a supercharger, which along with other modifications, contributed to making the car deliver a stunning 800hp.
Shelby made sure that this car can handle the trickiest of corners by installing an adjustable coil over suspension, Eibach sway bars, and 20-inch high-performance tires. Certainly, the Mustang would need tremendous stopping power and so, Shelby put in beefy brakes that utilize Baer components.
"The Ford Shelby GT was introduced in 2007 as an agile, reliable and affordable muscle car," said John Luft, president of Shelby American Inc. "It dominated its SCCA racing class and was a popular canvas for enthusiasts to create their dream Shelby. Our Shelby GTS picks up that mantle and expands upon it with a choice of V6 or V8 power for a new generation of Shelby enthusiast who wants a car built just for them."
