Suzuki Kizashi EcoCharge Concept
To illustrate American Suzuki Motor Corporation’s thrust towards global eco-mobility, the company has revealed a gas-electric concept variant of its Kizashi sedan at a press conference for the 2011 New York International Auto Show (NYIAS). Dubbed as the Kizashi EcoCharge Concept, this four-door sedan is innovative as well as stunning. This model shows off Suzuki’s socially conscious efforts. The Kizashi EcoCharge Concept is powered by a 2.0-liter inline-four gasoline engine that is coupled with an advanced electric propulsion system that features a liquid-cooled 15-kW motor/generator unit linked to a 115-volt air-cooled lithium-ion battery.
With these specs, the fuel economy of the Kizashi EcoCharge Concept has been optimized and is more efficient by 25% in the highway compared to the current production Kizashi. And during acceleration, the concept gets an electric power boost. To raise efficiency further, the Kizashi EcoCharge Concept makes use of technologies that conserve fuel such as regenerative braking, automatic engine shut-off when the car stops, fuel cut-off during deceleration events, and low-rolling resistance tires.
To manage power, Suzuki installed an advanced six-speed automatic transmission that allows for smooth operation and a continuous flow of power when the driver calls for it. The exterior of the Kizashi EcoCharge Concept is truly captivating with a one-of-a-kind luminescent white satin paint design that has an understated blue undercoat. It also received a specialized headlight treatment, as well as LED foglight illumination built into the front fascia. The lightweight aluminum wheels covered in low-rolling resistance tires give off a futuristic vibe.
