At last, the 2011 Nissan Murano CrossCabriolet was introduced today at the 2010 LA Auto Show! Yes, we know… it is weird to see a convertible crossover, but we don’t say we hate it… actually we kinda like it! And if you believe that the transformation of the car is just removing the top, you’d better think again as the manufacturer had quite a hard job in creating this CrossCabriolet. As you can see from the photos, the car has only two doors and not four like the standard car. Furthermore, the car is with 7.9 inches longer than 4-door Murano front doors, and comes without the B-pillars, as well as with a reinforced structure. The new cloth convertible top comes with a rear glass skylight in order to provide a wide-open interior environment. The hydraulically operated top mechanism includes an automatic power latch/unlatch system.
Some of the features included by the new car are the new High Intensity Discharge (HID) bi-functional xenon projector headlights fitted with auto on/off function, front fog lights and Nissan 370Z-inspired LED taillights. Moreover, the car comes with body-colored front and rear bumpers, chrome door handles, body-colored dual power/heated outside mirrors, and rear window defroster with timer. If you want this car, you’d better take a look at the available colors and choose the one for you: Sunset Bronze and Caribbean, plus Merlot, Platinum Graphite, Super Black and Pearl White. Inside, the Murano CrossCabriolet offers premium materials such as leather- appointed seats available in a diagonally quilted premium leather, half-matte chromed trim finish and unique wood-tone trim.
The interior is available in three colors: Black, Cashmere (light brown) and Camel (brown). According to Nissan, the model comes as standard with the Hard-Drive Navigation System with 9.3 GB Music Box hard drive and XM NavTraffic (XM subscription required, sold separately), Bluetooth Hands-free Phone System, HomeLink Universal Transceiver and RearView Monitor. Open-air road tunes are provided by a Bose AM/FM/CD audio system with 8 speakers including subwoofer. Under the hood, we find the same engine found on the standard Murano: 3.5-liter 24-valve DOHC V6 producing 265 horsepower and 248 lb-ft of torque. This engine is mated to a standard second-generation Xtronic CVT with Adaptive Shift Control (ASC) for sporty response and smoothness. Regarding the price, the new 2011 Murano CrossCabriolet will carry a base price of $46,390, and it will go on sale in early 2011.
