Commercial vans have been on the news lately. There have been several write-ups on the Dodge/Mercedes-Benz Sprinter and the Ford Transit Connect. The latest to come out is the 2011 Nissan NV commercial van that goes on sale in late 2010. What's funny about the name is that NV stands for Nissan Van, which makes the full name of the model as "Nissan Nissan Van." Unlike its Ford counterpart, the NV will be produced in the US, specifically at Nissan's plant in Mississippi. The NV will be offered in Standard Roof and High Roof versions. The NV, a rear-drive workhorse, is available with a 4.0-liter V6 or a 5.6-liter V8. A 5-speed automatic will be the only available transmission. It is unknown if there would be a diesel-powered version or an extended wheelbase variant. With an overall length of 240.9 inches, the NV is about the same size as the smallest Dodge Sprinter was. It is also about five feet longer than the Transit Connect. A Standard Roof version has a cargo volume of more than 220 cubic feet. Meanwhile, the High Roof can store more than 300 cubic feet of stuff.
