Dodge Challenger SRT8 ACR

The Chrysler Group’s Mopar Underground team made use of some modern history cues in building a Challenger image vehicle that’s on display now at the 2011 SEMA Show. In creating the Dodge Challenger ACR, Mopar Underground’s basis was the Challenger SRT8 392. Its influences include the victory of the Mopar Drag Pak Challenger and the record-breaking lap time of the Dodge Viper SRT10 ACR at the Nürburgring Nordschleife track in Germany set for a production car. The ACR acronym is typically used for Dodge’s and SRT’s best-handling vehicles; hence, this model is dubbed the Challenger ACR.

The Challenger ACR was built as a tribute to the original option-delete cars from the 1960s and 70s. Mopar parts were installed on the Challenger ACR like a coil-over suspension, front-and rear-strut tower braces, short-throw shifter, front splitter, cat-back exhaust, custom exhaust headers and Goodyear F1 Supercar performance tires. The interior received modifications that improved its performance such as carbon fiber door panels and front race bucket seats with openings to accommodate a racing harness. The rear seat has also been taken out and replaced by a roll bar and fire extinguisher.

Other interior changes include an SRT three-spoke flat-bottom steering wheel, SRT gauge cluster, custom bright pedal kit, Mopar Drag Pack center stack and a carbon fiber center console. Its exterior has gotten design cues that are comparable to those on the Viper SRT10 ACR such as a white body, charcoal painted roof, carbon fiber hood, rear deck lid, rear spoiler and tail lamp surround and an offset flame red stripe that can been seen across the car’s length. The exterior also receives red painted mirror caps and brake calipers, distinct black painted five-spoke 20-inch alloy wheels and red “ACR” fender badging.
