ŠKODA celebrates as the Yeti garnered two end-of-year awards from 4x4 Magazine, a respected specialist off-road magazine, bringing the SUV's trophy haul to six for the year. Specifically, the Yeti scooped class wins in the magazine's "4x4 of the Year" test, ranking the Yeti as number one in the Mid-Range class. Last year, the ŠKODA Yeti obtained class honor in the Crossover category, and it took the overall "4x4 of the Year" title as well. Editor Nigel Fryatt commented that the automobile is an "impressive machine" when taking "value for money" and "fit for purpose" in consideration. He added that the vehicle with the full off-road electronic terrain options is "more than capable" of coping with conditions that are beyond what potential owners would likely attempt.
The Yeti was also given the magazine's Special Award for Best Value. Editor Alan Kidd related that last year, the Yeti took the judging panel by surprise. This year, Kidd said that the Yeti still took their breath away despite being ready for it. He further stated that the Yeti is "brilliantly conceived and superbly built" as well as "good to drive on the road." He also said that the automobile will "do remarkable things in the rough."
With just two weeks of trading before 2011 ends, sales of the ŠKODA Yeti will be close to 5,500 units, an increase of around 33 percent from last year's 4,100 total.
