As we announced it few weeks ago, Acura unveiled today at the 2011 Chicago Auto Show the 2012 TL, its latest model which will deliver fresh looks, improved performance and upgraded technology. As you can see from the photos, the 2012 Acura TL features a redesigned front bumper with improved aerodynamics, a revised grille, updated headlights and turn signals, a new fog light design and a shorter front overhang. The rear end of the car features a new rear bumper with repositioned license plate opening and smaller rear reflectors, updated taillights and a thinner rear trunk edge trim. For the 2012 model year, the Acura TL will be available in two distinct versions: a 280 horsepower, front-wheel-drive TL along with a powerful 305 hp TL paired with Acura's exclusive Super Handling All-Wheel Drive (SH-AWD).
Acura also promises a new Sequential SportShift 6-speed automatic transmission which will be available on all TL models with automatic transmission. As a result, the city/highway fuel economy is now 20/29 mpg*- an increase of 3 mpg in highway driving over the 2011 TL. Both the TL and TL SH-AWD models will be available with the Technology Package which includes the Acura Navigation System with Voice Recognition, AcuraLink Real-Time Traffic with Traffic Rerouting and AcuraLink Real-Time Weather, and an Acura/ELS Surround 410-watt Premium Audio System.
According to Acura, the 2012 TL offers a new 60 GB hard disk drive (HDD) based navigation system, a faster USB connection and a VGA monitor with even richer colors. Acura will also offer the new Advance Package that offers all-new ventilated front seats along with a new blind spot information (BSI) system. The 2012 Acura TL comes as standard with new 17x8-inch 7-spoke aluminum wheels with P245/50R17 all-season tires, while the TL SH-AWD comes standard with 18x8-inch 5-spoke aluminum wheels with low-profile P245/45R18 tires. The TL models equipped with the Advance Package are offered with 18x8-inch 5-spoke wheels while TL SH-AWD is fitted with19x8-inch split five-spoke aluminum wheels.
