2012 Audi A6

There is a new ‘one-stop-shop’ option package dubbed Technology Package Advanced that’s offered for all Audi A6 and A7 Sportback models. Any model from the Saloon, Avant, allroad and Sportback lineups could be equipped with nine advanced convenience and occupant protection features such as Google Earth navigation mapping, in-car Wi-Fi and the Audi pre-sense multi-level safety system. Notably, these ranges are already known for being technologically advanced. The package on the A6 models is priced at £3,250 while on the A7 Sportback, it costs £3,750. This represents savings of at least £1,085 when compared with adding up the cost of the individual options. The Technology Package Advanced has the following entertainment and information enhancements: MMI navigation plus the MMI Touch fingertip recognition system, a color Driver’s Information System, Audi Music Interface iPod connection and a Bluetooth mobile phone interface providing access to Google Earth navigation maps and creating an in-car Wi-Fi hotspot.

The A7 Sportback gets a sophisticated head-up display that projects navigation and entertainment information onto the windscreen so that it seems to be floating about two metres in front of the car. With the Technology Package Advanced, the A6 and A7 expand the limits of the worldwide web. The Mobile Phone Preparation is the High option wherein passengers can benefit from the online services offered by Google like the Google Earth maps for navigation, browsing, and e-mailing. Getting access to these features is made possible with a Universal Mobile Telecommunications System (UMTS) module found in the MMI navigation plus head unit. The easiest way to get to the numerous functions of this system is the MMI Touch system with black panel technology. The destination or a telephone number may be entered by the driver by using a finger to draw letters and numbers on the touch-sensitive control panel.

The system offers brief acoustic feedback after each character so that eyes could stay on the road. Another option is available. Through Advanced voice control, the driver could simply say out loud the city and street, phone number or music track to be directed to that function. Mobile players or iPhones can be integrated into the on-board audio system via the Audi Music Interface. As a result, tracks could be displayed on the in-dash monitor and they can be scrolled and chosen via the MMI Touch pad or control knob. The new Technology Package Advanced is offered for the entire lineup of automatic six-cylinder A6 Saloon and Avant SE and S line models as well as for the newly announced A6 allroad quattro. Including the package, the models are priced from £39,140 OTR for the A6 saloon 3.0 TDI 204PS SE multitronic. In addition, the A6 range features a 245PS version of the V6 TDI and a supercharged six-cylinder petrol engine that delivers 300PS. The Technology Package Advanced is available for all SE and S line models in the exclusive six-cylinder A7 Sportback range, beginning with the 3.0-litre TDI 204PS SE multitronic, which is priced at £47,510 OTR (including the package).
