As expected, as we told you in this article, Audi revealed today the all-new Q3, the so-called premium SUV in a compact form. Regarding the design, there is absolutely no surprise and the car follows the same philosophy seen on all Audi SUVs. Moreover, the car looks like a smaller Q5 and weighs less than 1,500 kilograms (3,307 lb). The luggage compartment offers 460 to 1,365 liters (16.24 to 48.2 cu ft) of capacity. Under the hood, we find a choice of three four-cylinder engines: one TDI and two TFSI units.
Just like we told you, the car has the same engine seen on the 2011 Vw Tiguan, which means that the petrol engines deliver 103 kW (140 hp) and 155 kW (211 hp), while the popular 2.0-liter diesel engine (TDI) delivers 103 kW (140 hp). With a drag coefficient of just 0.32, the car is capable to deliver a fuel consumption of less than 5.2 liters of fuel per 100 kilometers (45.23 US mpg). The most powerful gasoline engine (found also on the Vw Golf GTI) as well as the diesel engine are paired with the quattro permanent all-wheel drive and a seven-speed S tronic, capable to switch gears at lightning speed.
And the S tronic features an innovation: during coasting, the dual-clutch transmission disengages the clutch and allows the Q3 to roll freely. Drivers of the Audi Q3 will be able to use the four modes of Audi drive select to have various systems adjust to their individual driving style. The interior is no surprise as we can find the same high quality materials seen on all Audi vehicles. Furthermore, Audi offers the large MMI navigation plus as well as the Bose surround system. In the near future, an online Bluetooth car phone will follow, paired with a WLAN hotspot to provide the Q3 with full Internet connectivity. Set to go on sale this June, the Audi Q3 will have a base price of 29,900 euros.
