2012 Bmw 6-Series Coupe coming to the 2011 Shanghai Auto Show

Bmw 6-Series Coupe Concept

The new BMW coupe will be displayed at the 2011 Shanghai Auto Show this April. Its exterior will be based on the Concept 6-Series Coupe that was shown at last year’s Paris Auto Show, which back then was described to have an appearance that’s nearly production-ready. The interior is unchanged, except for the fixed roof. This vehicle, which has a sophisticated four-seater configuration, may look familiar to BMW fans, as it features the elegantly flat, free-standing Control Display of the iDrive operating system, offered as standard.

The engine lineup will be carried over from the Convertible. This means that the 650i Coupe should come with a 4.4-liter twin-turbocharged V-8 that churns out 407hp and 443 pound-feet (601 Nm) of torque, while the 640i will offer 320hp and 332 pound-feet (450 Nm) of torque from a 3.0-liter turbocharged six-cylinder unit.

There had been speculations that a twin-turbo 4.8-liter V8 will deliver 550 hp in the M6. The 650i Coupe is expected to be priced lower than the $91,375 price tag of the 650i Convertible, while the 640i Coupe is expected to be priced even lower. The Coupe and the new Convertible are slated to start selling this spring.
