After few leaked photos, Bmw decided to show us the all-new 2012 M5, the fifth generation of its well-known sports car. As we told you before, the new car is powered by the new high-revving 4.4-litre V8 engine with M TwinPower Turbo package delivering 412 kW/560 hp at 6,000 – 7,000 rpm and a maximum torque of 680 Newton metres (502 lb-ft) from 1,500 rpm. In terms of performances, the 2012 Bmw M5 can sprint from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in just 4.4 seconds, to 200 km/h (124 mph) in 13.0 seconds and has a top speed of 250 km/h / 155 mph (305 km/h / 190 mph with M Driver’s Package).
The average fuel consumption in EU test cycle: 9.9 litres/100 km (28.5 mpg imp). It’s no surprise that the power transfer is made to the rear wheels via the seven-speed M Double Clutch Transmission Drivelogic. Moreover, the 2012 M5 comes with systems such as: traction-optimised automatic gear selection; Launch Control; Low Speed Assistance; automatically activated parking mode; M-specific gear selector; M leather steering wheel with shift paddles. The new M Drive buttons found on the steering wheel offer two individually configured set-ups for the car.
