The Farmer's Almanac anticipates lower-than-normal temperatures during the winter season for New England, the Southwest and the Midwest. This means that the drivers will be expecting icy windows, the fear of being let stranded on snowy roadside, and frigid upholstery. For the 2012 Buick Verano, the prediction calls for comfortable and safe driving.
The new luxury sedan from Buick provides stay-warm functionalities which are generally reserved for more expensive automobiles. For example, the optional heated steering wheel is not available in an Acura TSX, Lexus IS250, Audi A3 or Infiniti G25. Karen Schindler, a Verano owner, related that the heated steering wheel was a "big surprise," adding that it gives the automobile Verano "great value for the price." She bought her Verano from St. Louis-based Dave Sinclair Buick.
The Verano is equipped with leather interiors that come standard with heated front seats, which warm automatically through a remote start when the ambient temperature is lower than 45 degrees. The key fob-controlled starting is a standard on every Verano. It also activates the vehicle's climate control, optional heated side mirrors and rear defroster.
The six-month free OnStar service, which is included in every Verano, extends remote start capability for users of smartphones. The RemoteLink app enables the user to start, lock or unlock the vehicle from beyond the key fob's 200-foot range. The app is offered at no cost for compatible Android and Apple phones. It can also be utilized to check tire pressures and engine oil life or pre-load a turn-by-turn navigation destination.
