This is the 2012 Cadillac CTS, an updated version of firm’s popular model which promises to offer an upgraded V6 engine, a new front grille as well as a new Touring Package Edition. First of all, let’s take a look at the new engine: according to GM, the 3.6-liter V6 engine uses a lighter more efficient design and will offer more power and the same fuel economy as the current engine. The new engine will deliver 318 horsepower (237 kW) and 275 lb.-ft. (372 Nm) of torque, while the current 3.6-liter V6 produces 304 horsepower (227 kW) and 273 lb.-ft. (370 Nm) of torque.
Still, the EPA fuel economy label will remain 18 city/27 highway mpg, as the new design of the engine reduces the weight with 20.5 pounds or 9.3 kg. Regarding the design, the 2012 Cadillac CTS comes with a new front grille, redesigned with new premium finishes. Moreover, the Wreath & Crest logo also has sharper colors, and promises to deliver a refined appearance. All the changes will be seen in all three CTS models – CTS Sport Sedan, Sport Wagon and Coupe.
Cadillac says that the new CTS engine delivers more power and torque than comparable V6 offerings in the Mercedes-Benz E-Class and Lexus ES350. In addition to the new engine and the redesigned grille, the 2012 Cadillac CTS will also receive the Touring Package. Available in the 3.0L V-6 and 3.6L V6 engines, the Touring Package ads an exclusive grille with a dark finish, metal pedals, dark Sapele wood interior trim and sueded seat inserts, steering wheel and shift knob. Moreover, the Touring Package Sedan and Wagon also will have chrome door handles, while the 3.6L version will have 19-inch polished wheels and Recaro 14-way adjustable performance seats. The 3.0L version will have 18-inch wheels with a pearl-nickel finish.
