Chevrolet’s Super Bowl ad for the Sonic hatchback this year illustrates the pride and joy it has for this U.S.-built vehicle. This ad wants to tell everyone that driving this car is so pleasurable that bugs decided to gather on its honeycomb grill to get some thrills. The ad reaches its climax with the line: “from 0 to.... Chevy runs deep” that relays a message that this isn’t a serious car for joyless people. The commercial spot is better appreciated by those who are familiar with or who have recently watched the animated movie “A Bug’s Life.” The ad has its share of critics but one thing’s for sure -- its animations are impeccable.
