After the Volkswagen Touareg Hybrid, the second hybrid model from the German manufacturer has arrived: this is the 2013 Vw Jetta Hybrid. According to Volkswagen, this is the first hybrid model with a 1.4 TSI engine and as expected, this system will also be seen on the Golf Hybrid. As expected, the 1.4 TSI engine delivers 150 hp / 110 kW and 184 lb-ft of torque but the vehicle also carries a 20 kW (36 hp) electric motor and a lithium-ion battery.

This means that the total ouput delivered by the Jetta Hybrid is around 170 hp. Mated to a seven-speed DSG dal clutch transmission, the 2013 Jetta Hybrid is able to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in less than 9 seconds and has a fuel consumption of just 5.2 liters per 100 kilometres. Volkswagen says that the fuel consumption dropped by 20 percent, comparing it with the vehicles powered by standard combustion engines.

Just like the other hybrid vehicles, the 2013 Volkswagen Jetta Hybrid offers an E mode, which means that it can act like an electric vehicle for two kilometres (1.2 miles) at a maximum speed of 70 km/h or 43 mph. The Jetta Hybrid is also with 100 kg (221-lbs) heavier than the standard Jetta.
