2012 Ford EcoSport

This is the 2012 Ford EcoSport, firm’s new compact, fuel-efficient urban SUV that will make its public debut tomorrow at the 2012 Auto China in Beijing. For those who don’t know, the EcoSport made its debut in concept form back in January at the 2012 New Dehli Auto Show and looking at the production version we can say that it is identical with the concept. According to Ford, energy efficiency is one of the highlights of the all-new Ford EcoSport and in order to sustain these words, the EcoSport was fitted with the all-new 1.0-litre, three-cylinder EcoBoost engine. Still, a 1.5L Ti-VCT petrol engine is also available.

The engines are mated to the innovative six-speed PowerShift dual-clutch automatic transmission capable to combine the efficiency and driving dynamics of a manual gearbox with the convenience of a conventional automatic transmission. The exterior of the vehicle looks really good but it’s obvious that the EcoSport was made for emerging markets. The interior was designed in order to provide the highest levels of quality and craftsmanship. One of the highlights is the award-winning SYNC driver connect system with voice control.

SYNC sets the trend for a hands-free, voice-activated future. Moreover, we find a digital audio system that features a CD/MP3 player, USB and auxiliary slots, iPod connectivity, Bluetooth connection, and a 3.5-inch LCD screen. SYNC will be available in both Mandarin and English in China. The 2012 Ford EcoSport is also fitted with range of key features such as electric power assisted steering, power windows, remote control locks, dual power side mirrors, Passive Anti-Theft System, Smart Keyless Entry, and Ford Power Start, and rear parking sensors.
