According to very reliable sources, it appears that the facelifted version of the Jaguar XF will be revealed next month, at the 2011 New York Auto Show. Maybe this will not be a surprise for many of you folks who expected a new ‘make-up’ for the well-known cat but what it is more interesting is that Jaguar will bring a diesel-powered version… in interesting strategy to bring an oil burner at an American auto show. And now the biggest surprise: the model will actually be powered by a four-cylinder 2.2-liter diesel engine, and promises to deliver the best fuel consumption in the XF lineup.
For those who don’t know, Jaguar already offers a diesel-powered version of the XF on the European market but it is powered by a more potent 3.0-liter engine. The new 2.2-liter four-cylinder engine is the same engine which will be found on the Range Rover Evoque and will deliver around 200 hp and just 150 g/km of CO2 emissions. Apparently, the British manufacturer owned by Tata Motors wants to follow the same path as Audi and Bmw. For those who don't know, the Audi A6 and the Bmw 5-Series powered by a 2.0-liter diesel engine are quite popular.
Regarding the design of the updated XF, expect to see new headlights carrying LED technology, a redesigned front bumper, new taillights as well as a new rear apron. More details will be revealed on April 21, when the 2011 New York Auto Show will open its doors!
