2012 Jaguar XKR-S Convertible

As expected Jaguar unveiled today at the 2011 LA Auto Show its fastest convertible: behold the 2012 Jaguar XKR-S Convertible! Based on the XKR-S Coupe, the convertible is powered by the same 5.0-liter supercharged AJ-V8 engine delivering 550PS (405kW) and 502lb/ft (680Nm) of torque. The XKR-S Convertible can sprint from 0 to 60 mph (96 km/h) in 4.2 seconds and to 62 mph (100 km/h) in 4.4 seconds, while the top speed is electronically limited to 186mph (300km/h). Regarding the design, the XKR-S Convertible comes with the same body kit as the coupe and the first visual impact with the car shows that we are taking about a really powerful vehicle.

The front end of the car shows a wider, lower air intake, a carbon fibre splitter and twin side nacelles, as well as new vertical panels at the edges of the bumper, that channel air down the side of the car along new sills. The exterior changes are highlighted by the application of gloss black to the exterior brightwork. The design is completed by the forged 20" Vulcan design alloy wheels wrapped in Pirelli P-Zero tyres (255/35 ZR20 at the front and 295/30 ZR20 at the rear).

Behind these wheels we find the Jaguar High Performance Brake calipers finished in either an eye-catching red or discreet gunmetal. The braking system is fitted as standard with huge brake discs: 380mm front and 376mm rear. The XKR-S Convertible is available in a range of six colours, including Polaris White and British Racing Green, a tribute to Jaguar's competition heritage. The acoustically treated hood opens and stows in just 18 seconds and has been proven at the car's maximum speed. It comes in black as standard with a further six optional colours available.
