The 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8 made its debut today at the 2011 New York Auto Show as the most powerful and technologically advanced Jeep vehicle ever. Set to hit the dealerships this summer, the 2012 Grand Cherokee SRT8 is powered by a 6.4-liter HEMI V8 engine delivering 465 horsepower and 465 lb.-ft. of torque (an improvement of 45 hp and 45 lb.-ft. torque comparing to the previous model powered by a 6.1-liter HEMI V8). With these numbers, the 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8 runs is capable to hit 60 mph (96 km/h) in 4.8 seconds an has a top speed of 155 mph or 250 km/h. Moreover, the car does to 0-100-0 mph in the mid-16 second range, runs the quarter mile in the mid-13 second range and brakes from 60-0 mph in 116 feet.

The impressive engine also comes with Fuel Saver Technology and a new-for-2012 active valve exhaust system and according to Chrysler the 2012 Grand Cherokee has a range of 450 miles on one tank of gas. Regarding the handling, Chrysler engineers improved it even further on the 2012 Grand Cherokee SRT8 and the manufacturer says that the vehicle is capable of .90 g on the skid pad. The new Grand Cherokee SRT8 also features an Electronic Limited Slip Differential that eliminates rear wheel slip and improves handling. Stopping power for the 2012 Grand Cherokee SRT8 comes courtesy of new SRT high-performance Brembo brakes with four-wheel anti-lock brake system (ABS).

The car features new red-painted, Brembo 6-piston (front) and 4-piston (rear) calipers while vented rotors can be seen on all four corners measuring 15-inches (front) and 13.8-inches (rear). The calipers are hidden behind the new split 5-spoke, 20-inch forged aluminum wheels wrapped in P295/45ZR20 Pirelli PZero run-flat tires. As you can see from the photos, the new car comes with a one-piece front fascia containing LED multi-function daytime running lamps, a body-colored front grille, while the rear comes with a new liftgate spoiler that reduces drag and improves downforce. The 2012 Grand Cherokee SRT8 also offers the new dual-sport exhaust system featuring 4-inch exhaust tips. The 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee's refined, luxurious interior takes on a performance feel in SRT8 form with race-inspired technology and SRT-exclusive appointments.
