2012 Mazda CX-5

The 2012 Mazda CX-5 compact crossover was officially unveiled at the 2011 Frankfurt Motor Show. This is the first production vehicle to feature Mazda’s Kodo design language. The five-passenger SUV gets a complete range of Mazda’s SkyActiv powertrains, consisting of both gasoline and diesel engines and six-speed automatic and manual transmissions. Mazda had displayed Kodo, which translates to "soul of motion," on its Minagi concept car at the Geneva Auto Show.

When used on the production vehicle, it provides the CX-5 with distinct flowing lines while softening the Nagare design language that’s emphasized on the current Mazda 5. Kodo is seen even in the interior, as its cockpit lines are horizontally extended and its key hardware has a satin metallic finish.

There’s a 5.8-inch color touch screen for the infotainment-system control and display. The new CX-5 has a rear legroom that is the best in its class. It also features a one-of-a-kind 40-20-40 split rear seat. Its center section can be folded flat, creating two bucket seats with room to slide long cargo so as to maximize space. Fans will also love the fact that this vehicle comes with SkyActiv technology – the first Mazda vehicle to get it.
