Finally, Mercedes-Benz revealed today the 2012 CLS63 AMG at the 2010 LA Auto Show, a car that promises to deliver impressive performances and set a new benchmark in design and efficiency. As expected, the 2012 Mercedes-Benz CLS63 AMG carries the all-new 5.5-liter V8 biturbo engine delivering 518 hp and 516 lb-ft of torque. The acceleration is impressive: 0-60 mph (96 km/h) in just 4.4 seconds and a top speed limited to 155 mph or 250 km/h. Furthermore, Mercedes-Benz offers the AMG Performance Package, which offers 550 hp and 590 lb-ft of torque, a 0-60 mph (96 km/h) in just 4.3 seconds and a top speed of 186 km/h or 300 km/h. The engine is mated to the AMG SPEEDSHIFT MCT 7-speed Sport Transmission. Despite the fact, that the current engine is smaller and more powerful than the old 6.3-liter V8 naturally aspirated engine delivering 507 hp and 465 lb-ft, the new 5.5-liter V8 engine is more fuel efficient, delivering 16 mpg city and 21 mpg highway.

The 2012 CLS63 AMG also comes with stop/start function capable to deactivate the eight-cylinder when the vehicle is at a standstill. The driver can see when the engine is deactivated via a green "ECO" symbol on the AMG dash. The impressive AMG transmission offers "S" (Sport), "S+" (Sport Plus) and "M" (Manual) programs in order to deliver better performances. Regarding the design, the 2012 CLS63 AMG comes with a unique hood, wider fenders featuring the "V8 BITURBO" logo and an exclusive AMG front skirt with a black-painted cross-brace.

The rear end of the car features a new air diffuser, with two chromed dual tailpipes, as well as the integrated fog lamps also familiar from the SLS AMG. Inside, the sporty theme is continued with the new AMG three- spoke performance steering wheel with aluminum shift paddles and a flattened rim top and bottom and the AMG DRIVE UNIT with compact E-SELECT shift lever. The car comes as standard in burl walnut wood veneer, while a piano black lacquer and carbon-fiber trim elements are available as standard.
