At last, the waiting is over! The all-new 2013 Nissan Altima was finally revealed today showing a new look as well as several improvements. The first thing you’ll notice at the 2013 Altima is the front end styling featuring projector-type headlights and a new grille. Moreover, the A-pillar angle is now slightly more sloped, while the new body design is capped by large taillights (with LED taillights standard on SL models) that flow from the rear into the bodysides. The interior of the 2013 Altima will definitely rival upscale luxury vehicles, at least according to Nissan, in ambience and sophistication.
The most interesting feature of the interior are the seats as Nissan says that these are inspired by NASA’s “Zero-Gravity” seats. For those who don’t know, NASA says that the least fatiguing seats are those that come closest to a "neutral posture" – a relaxed position that the human body takes in a weightless environment. Under the hood, we find a choice of two engines: a 2.5-liter DOHC 4-cylinder and a 3.5-liter DOHC V6. The 2.5-liter engine was redesigned and is now lighter and more efficient. The total output delivered by this engine is 182 hp while the maximum torque is 180 lb-ft.
The bigger 3.5-liter V6 engine delivers 270 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque. Targeted fuel economy for the Altima 2.5-liter 4-cylinder/CVT combination is 27 mpg city, 38 mpg highway and 31 mpg combined. Fuel economy for the 3.5-liter V6/CVT Altima is rated at 22 mpg city, 30 mpg highway and 25 mpg combined. The all-new 2013 Nissan Altima is offered in four 2.5-liter engine equipped models, 2.5, 2.5 S, 2.5 SV and 2.5 SL, along with three 3.5-liter V6 equipped models, 3.5 S, 3.5 SV and 3.5 SL. For those interested, the 2013 Nissan Altima starts at $21,500.
