Finally, Nissan revealed the official details of the 2012 GT-R sports cars which promises o offer improved engine output, better handling, a refreshed exterior, improved aerodynamics, a revamped interior as well as a new set of wheels and tires. Let’s start with the engine: the new car features the same 3.8-liter DOHC V6 engine, delivering 530 hp (current model delivers 485 hp) and 612 Nm of torque from 3,200 to 6,200 rpm (current model delivers 588 Nm). According to the manufacturer, the fuel economy was improved to 8.5km/L (10-15 mode) or 8.6km/L (JC08 mode), thanks to the modified boost pressure of the turbocharger, valve timing and air mixture ratio. The engine cover has now a red color in order to demonstrate its greater performance. Despite the power increase, the 2012 Nissan GT-R has lower CO2 emissions (emitting 75% fewer emissions than Japan's 2005 exhaust emission standards) thanks to an ultra-low precious metal catalyst and ECM with high-capacity microprocessor.

A new SAVE mode was adopted, which optimizes driving torque and modifies the shift schedule to improve actual fuel economy when driving highways or open roads. Thanks to the new design, the coefficient of drag is further reduced from 0.27 to 0.26, which is one of the best in its class. The new design includes a refreshed front bumper with double rectifier fins and Hyper Daylight with a large-diameter reflecting surface and high intensity white-color LED lights. The design increases the front downforce by 10% percent. The rear bumper not features a lower center of gravity than the previous model.

Six exterior colors are now available, which means that two new colors were added: Meteo Flake Black Pearl and Aurora Flare Blue Pearl. Inside, we find a newly shaped instrument panel pad and navigation system display finisher, with stitch lines changed to express an enhanced quality feel. Furthermore, we find a real carbon fiber center cluster, as well as matte black finished switches. The steering wheel features a new GT-R logo, wrapped in a new velour-like coating, expressing a glossy texture. The paddle shifters now feature a coating exposing the magnesium base material. The 2012 model year also adds two new versions of the GT-R: Club Track and Egoist. The complete 12MY Nissan GT-R model lineup now includes six versions - the "Pure edition," "Black edition," "Premium edition," "SpecV," "Club Track" and "Egoist". The Egoist version is the so-called M-Spec GT-R wand brings more interior colors, a Bose sound systems exclusively tuned according to the driving position of each driver, a carbon fiber rear spoiler, RAYS forged aluminum-alloy wheels and a titanium exhaust system.
