2012 Paris Motor Show: 2013 Skoda Rapid makes its debut

2013 Skoda Rapid

Skoda has introduced the Rapid at the Paris Motor Show. This family hatch is targeted at the VW Golf and Ford Focus and is priced from a budget price of £12,000 when it’s launched later this year. The Skoda Rapid presents the brand's new design language, kicked off by the Vision D concept and typified by a four-lamp headlight, trapezoidal fog lights and monochrome Skoda badge mounted on the bonnet. There are seven units in the model's engine line-up. The power output of the five petrol engines range from 74 to 121bhp. At the start, just a 104bhp 1.6-litre diesel will be offered. An 88bhp variant will be offered after a year. The cabin and boot space have become larger than that of the Octavia due to the Rapid’s long wheelbase and torsion beam rear axle. The Octavia is expected to go more upmarket in the next generation.
