2012 Renault Pulse

Renault has unveiled Pulse, an upscale compact car that was developed by Renault's Design Center in Mumbai for the market in India and is set to be released in January 2012. Pulse, which is targeted at the broadest customer segment, is the third of five vehicles that will be launched in India in slightly more than a year. The first two vehicles launched this year are Fluence and Koleos. With these moves, Renault proves how committed it is to the Indian market, which is one of the three priorities of the group's international strategy.

Pulse is meant to appeal to young, increasingly mobile urban customers. This model mirrors Renault's concept of creating cars and innovative technology that are available to all. Pulse is powered by the 1.5 dCi engine that tops its class when it comes to fuel consumption and performance. Renault's Formula 1 engineers have improved its fuel efficiency.

The car and engines are made in the first dedicated Renault-Nissan vehicle manufacturing plant located in Chennai. It was inaugurated in 2010 to boost the Alliance's plans for the Indian market. Pulse was unveiled on October 29, right before the Indian Grand Prix starts. Carlos Tavares, COO of Renault, was on hand during the launch. Pulse serves as the core of Renault's product range in India, where compacts make up four out of five cars sold. In 2012, Duster and a sedan will be added to this range.
