After the Vw Up! and the Skoda Citigo, Volkswagen Group unveiled today the 2012 Seat Mii. Set to go on sale next spring is the Seat Mii, which is the latest city car that had been based on the Volkswagen Up. VW is offering three city cars from its lineup. The first is the £8000 Up, which will start selling this January. The second is Skoda's £7500 Citigo that will go on sale in the summer. Mii is the third but so far, the pricing information has yet to be released. Sources claim that it will be priced lower than £8000. Just like the Skoda and Volkswagen, the Mii is available with two petrol engine options.
These are 1.0-litre, three-cylinder units that are offered with either 59bhp or 74bhp. Another option is a five-speed automatic gearbox. Seat will also offer an Ecomotive version that offers 63.7mpg and has CO2 emissions of 97g/km. This means that it is exempted from London's Congestion Charge or any road tax. Only a three-door version will be offered at the launch but later this year, a five-door will be released. The prices of the entry-level versions of the Citigo, Mii and Up are about the same and the cars’ mechanisms are identical. It’s likely that buyers will make their choice by considering the cars’ appearance or by the equipment level.
According to Seat, the Mii can be offered with City Safety Assist, where a laser identifies that there are other vehicles in front and could determine if they are driving or are stationary. A warning is sounded if an accident is about to happen at speeds of less than 18mph. The brakes are instantly applied when the driver fails to act. The Mii is available with the Seat Portable System, which comes with a five-inch portable screen that has both sat-nav and a hands-free phone system. In addition, it has an 'Eco-trainer' function that aids in teaching owners how to drive more economically.
