Law enforcement agencies will love the fact that the Dodge Charger Pursuit now has all-wheel-drive capability that improves traction in slippery conditions. Active all-wheel drive has been around for quite some time now but it should be considered that these systems are typically used in front-drive vehicles instead of the road-hungry Hemi-bearing vehicles. Chrysler executive Peter Grady said that having an active all-wheel drive system will widen its appeal to police departments that would have to deal with difficult weather conditions. He added that since the Charger Pursuit is now available with dual capability of both rear- and all-wheel-drive, Chrysler will be able to respond to the requirements of police fleet buyers throughout the country. For the longest time, police fleets were dominated by Ford’s Crown Victoria but ever since it was discontinued, other brands got the chance to make a dent in the segment. “Adding available all-wheel-drive capability to the already popular Dodge Charger Pursuit will broaden the Charger’s appeal to police departments that are accustomed to dealing with rough winters and adverse weather conditions,” said Peter Grady, Vice President - Network Development & Fleet, Chrysler Group LLC. “With the Charger Pursuit now offering dual capability of both rear- and all-wheel-drive, we’ll be able to meet the needs of our police fleet customers across the country.
