Fiat Brand has launched the new 2013 Fiat 500 Turbo, which is equipped with a 135hp 1.4-liter MultiAir Turbo engine, sport-tuned suspension, track-proven brakes, dynamic exterior design and an interior with sporty styling. The new Fiat 500 Turbo is targeted at fans who like the Fiat 500’s Italian style but are hoping to acquire more power and performance for their daily drive. The new 2013 Fiat 500 Turbo’s front fascia is designed for performance. It comes with a single turbocharger, twin intercoolers and sport-tuned exhaust to boost its power by 34% (when comparing 135hp vs. 101hp). Its torque is also 53% higher (150 compared to 98 lb.-ft) compared to the naturally aspirated 1.4-liter MultiAir engine of the Fiat 500.
The Fiat 500 Turbo is mated to the track-proven C510 five-speed manual transmission with a 3.35 final-drive gear ratio to achieve quick acceleration and faster top speed, while being able to achieve up to 34 mpg on the highway. This makes it ideal for high-output uses. Furthermore, the enhanced powertrain has an intermediate shaft with equal-length and (28.1 mm vs. 22.8 mm diameter in the Fiat 500) half shafts that are 23% bigger to alleviate torque steer.
The new 1.4-liter MultiAir Turbo engine offers more power and torque and to manage that, it has bigger constant velocity (CV) joints with 53% higher torsional strength (2600 Nm vs. 1700 Nm in the Fiat 500) to deliver more durability and refinement. The new 2013 Fiat 500 Turbo has a much bolder appearance with its prominent front fascia that is positioned 2.7 inches forward of the Cinquecento’s signature “whiskers and logo” face to hold the new 1.4-liter MultiAir Turbo engine. The Fiat 500 Turbo has bolder side skirts to make a more vertical bodyside profile, while also improving its iconic Cinquecento shape. There is a liftgate-mounted spoiler at the rear that extends the roofline of the Fiat 500 Turbo and enhances the aerodynamic behaviour of the hatchback .The 2013 Fiat 500 Turbo will hit the dealerships this fall with a Manufacturer's Suggested Retail Price (MSRP) of $19,500 excluding $700 destination charge.
