The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s New Car Assessment Program crash testing has given a five-star rating to the 2013 Infiniti M sedans. The new range doesn’t actually have any visual modifications compared to the 2012 lineup. The five-star top rating is now harder to achieve after the NHTSA upgraded the NCAP test for 2013 models. But then, the modifications to the test meant that all 2013 Infiniti M models have earned a five-star overall crash test rating. The new test added up to the five-star achievement for Infiniti’s biggest sedans by combining a series of accessible crash avoidance technology, a five-star side crash rating, and four-star ratings in frontal crash and rollover testing. The Infiniti M previously got a four-star overall rating. So that a better score could be given to the M sedans, the revised test of the NHTSA now considers crash avoidance technology. M models are equipped with stability control and six airbags as standard. Meanwhile, the following are optional: forward collision warning, lane departure warning and prevention, blind spot assist and intervention. The 2013 Infiniti M lineup includes the M37, M56 and M35h hybrid. The M37 is priced from $49,095; the M56 costs $61,495, while the M35h has a starting price of $55,095. Destination charges are included.
