Lexus unveiled today at the 2012 New York Auto Show the all-new 2013 ES lineup, which includes the ES 350 and ES 300h equipped with Lexus Hybrid Drive. The first look at the car shows the new front grille, seen also on the 2013 Lexus GS and on the 2013 RX 350 and RX 400h. The front end also comes with a newly designed front bumper but also with a new set of headlights fitted with daytime running LEDs. The rear end shows new lamps that reflect the “L” design motif, but also a new rear bumper with dual exhaust pipes on the ES 350, while the ES 300h features a distinctive rear design with hidden exhaust and an integrated spoiler. New exterior colors for the 2013 ES include Fire Agate Pearl and Silver Lining Metallic. The interior has also been redesigned in order to provide both a sense of openness and security.
Newly designed seats are also offered, while the steering wheel angle has been reduced from 24 degrees to 22 degrees for a more natural control position. Greater rear seat legroom and knee room are the hallmark of the redesigned, more spacious cabin. Knee room is increased by 2.8 inches and legroom is increased by 4.1 inches. The new ES features the next-generation Lexus Enform system.
Regarding the safety, the 2013 Lexus ES comes with an array of features such as Blind Spot Monitor with Rear Cross Traffic Alert (RCTA) that helps detect vehicles in side blind spots, 10 airbags as standard, Injury Lessening (WIL) front seats and Lexus Safety Connect that includes Enhanced Roadside Assistance, an Emergency Assistance Button (SOS), Stolen Vehicle Location services. Furthermore, the 2013 ES comes with Automatic Collision Notification to a Safety Connect center as standard. Under the hood, the 2013 Lexus ES 350 is powered by a 3.5-liter V6 engine, mated to a six-speed automatic Electronically Controlled Transmission. The 2013 Lexus ES 300h features the 2.5-liter four-cylinder Atkinson cycle engine and just like the other hybrid Lexus models offers four driving modes: Normal, Sport, Eco and EV.
