A 4-cylinder engine option will be offered on the Lincoln MKT. Unfortunately, the new EcoBoost 4-cylinder will only be available on the MKT Town Car for fleet use by livery firms. By the end of 2012, Lincoln will start to make its 2.0-liter, four-cylinder EcoBoost engine available. This engine is the same one used in the Ford Edge and Explorer models, with an output of 235hp. The front-wheel drive model has a price tag of $49,845, which is just $1,100 lower than its 3.7-liter V6 counterpart. It isn’t very efficient but its 20/28-mpg rating is still more appealing than the 3.7-liter V6, with 17/24-mpg. In addition, the Lincoln MKT has an option for a 3.5-liter V6 EcoBoost, which delivers 365hp. It is capable of achieving 16/23-mpg in all-wheel drive form while the front-wheel drive V6 EcoBoost has a rating of 17/25-mpg. There’s a slight price difference so it’s uncertain if many consumers would want the four-cylinder model.
