After few leaked photos, Mercedes-Benz officially unveiled today the CLS Shooting Brake, a car that promises to open a new segment in the auto market. If the front end is the same as the one seen on the CLS, the rear end is completely new and features a roof which continues through the rear. A unique feature of the car is the designo wooden luggage compartment floor, which serves to underscore the hand-finished nature of the interior. The CLS Shooting Brake features a luggage compartment made of American cherry tree wood, which honestly to tell you, looks really impressive. The interior is given an even more progressive look with the addition of piano lacquer or AMG carbon fibre/black piano lacquer trim elements. According to the official press release, the CLS Shooting Brake measures: length x width x height: 4956 x 1881 x 1413 mm.
Moreover, it offers a load volume between 590 and 1550 litres. The aerodynamics also make a significant contribution to the efficiency of the Mercedes-Benz CLS Shooting Brake. With a frontal area of 2.30 m² and a Cd value of 0.29, the drag area is 0.67 m². The powertrains are the same seen on the CLS.This means that we find the 2.2-liter diesel engine on the CLS 250 CDI delivering 204 hp and 500 Nm of torque. The CLS 250 CDI is able to hit 100 km/h (62 mph) in 7.8 seconds and has a top speed of 235 km/h or 146 mph. The CLS 350 CDI is powered by the 3.0-liter V6 delivering 265 hp and 620 Nm of torque.
This model hits 100 km/h (62 mph) in 7.8 seconds and has a top speed of 250 km/h or 155 mph. The CLS 350 CDI 4Matic is powered by the same engine, but comes with AWD. It sprints from naught to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 6.7 seconds while the top speed is limited at 250 km/h (155 mph). The CLS 350 is powered by a 3.5-liter V6 petrol engine with 306 hp and 370 Nm of torque. It hits 100 km/h (62 mph) in 6.7 seconds and has a top speed electronically limited to 250 km/h (155 mph). The CLS 500 is powered by the mighty 4.7-liter twin-turbo engine delivering 408 hp and 600 Nm of torque. This model can take you from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 5.3 seconds. Mercedes-Benz also offers the CLS 500 4Matic, which has the same specs as the CLS 500.
